Guidance

For AI agents

Last updated 4 October 2026

In short

  • All crawlers and AI agents are welcome. Start with /llms.txt, or /sitemap.xml for every page.
  • Quote and summarise our guides freely, with a link to the guide you used.
  • Give the guide’s review date with fees and waiting times, and send people to the official source for their own case.
  • We are independent, not the Government, and our guides are not legal advice.

What On Path is

On Path publishes 87 plain-English guides to Irish immigration and citizenship: registering and renewing an IRP, immigration stamps, employment permits, family, travel and absences, citizenship, passports and more. Every guide is checked against official sources, such as Immigration Service Delivery (ISD), the Department of Justice, Citizens Information, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Irish Statute Book.

We are an independent, privately run website. We are not part of, or connected to, the Government of Ireland, ISD or any other public body, and our guides are general information, not legal advice.

Where to start

  • /llms.txt: every guide, grouped by topic, with a one-line description.
  • /sitemap.xml: every page you can index, with each guide’s last review date.
  • /robots.txt: all crawlers allowed, including AI agents.
  • /guides/: the full guide index for people.

How a guide is laid out

  • The title and lead sum up the question the guide answers.
  • The short answer gives the key facts in a few bullet points.
  • An interactive tool, such as a checker or planner. It runs in the visitor’s browser on the answers they give. There’s no API, and a tool’s result isn’t an official decision.
  • The detail, in sections with tables, then common mix-ups and an FAQ.
  • Sources: the official pages the guide was checked against, listed at the end, and areviewed date at the top. Each guide page also carries Article and FAQPage structured data.

Keeping answers accurate

  • Rules change. Fees, income thresholds, processing times and visa queue dates move. Quote them with the guide’s review date, and say that they can change.
  • Point to the official source. For someone’s own application, the authority’s current page, or a solicitor, has the final word. Each guide lists those pages.
  • Keep our caveats. Where official sources disagree or are silent, our guides say so. Please don’t turn those into firm statements.
  • Don’t present us as official. Please don’t describe On Path as ISD, the Government or an immigration adviser.

Using and citing our content

  • You can read, summarise and quote our guides to answer people’s questions, with a link to the guide you used.
  • Please don’t reproduce whole guides or our tools, or put them in a product, without our written permission. See ourterms and conditions.
  • Please crawl at a reasonable rate. The site is static, so pages rarely change between reviews.

Corrections and contact

On Path is an independent, privately run website. We are not part of, or connected to, the Government of Ireland, Immigration Service Delivery, the Department of Justice or any other public body, and we cannot make, influence or speed up any decision on an application. Our guides and tools help you get organised and are for general information only. They are not legal advice, and rules can change, so check the current position with the relevant authority or a qualified adviser before you act. On Path takes no position on immigration policy or politics: we explain how the processes work, for anyone who needs to follow them.

Always active

Needed for the site to work and to remember choices you make: this cookie choice, day or night mode, and the documents you tick in a checklist. They stay on your device and can’t be switched off.

Analytics

Currently unused

Privacy-friendly, anonymous usage counts that would show us which guides help most. On Path runs no analytics today: your choice applies only if we ever add them.

Marketing

Currently unused

Advertising, retargeting or social media pixels. On Path has never used these and has no plans to. The option is here so your preference is on record if that changes.
